Student
Support
Service
For many students in receipt of the Disabled Students Allowance, non-medical help is an important element of their awarded support. Claro Learning offers the full range of such services.
Enabling
Our enabling service can assist a student with overcoming barriers to their learning and can include:
Students with difficulties taking lecture notes may be entitled to support from a note taker. Claro provides
trained note takers who know how to take academic notes and deliver them to the student in a format that
suits them.
- Mobility assistance, library assistance, readers, scribes, chaperoning and other support.
Enhanced Enabling/Mentoring
Students who have more complex issues e.g. mental health issues or autism may be entitled to enhanced enabling or mentoring. Our support workers offer strategies to enable a student to engage with their learning and university life. Some students, such as those who have visual or hearing impairment, need specialist support with their communication. We are ready with the appropriate specialist support.
Learning Support
Our learning support tutors are qualified teachers who provide one-to-one specialist study support based on a individual's preferred learning style. We provide support when and where it is convenient for a student, including at home.
Assistive Technology Training
We provide trainers who understand assistive technology and disability. Claro Learning provides specialist home based training packages based on the software awarded to enable students to access their learning. (For more information see our
Assistive Technology Training page)
